1). The first thing I noticed about this Brain Game book was the spiral bound cover, which make it easier to work the games without the pages getting in the way. The Large print is something I also liked. I purchased this Brain Games Large Print Word Search for my 85 year old mother, but some of the brain games have proven to be very challenging for her (and me too, if I am to be honest). The harder games my mother and I work together (at times I use my I Phone to help with searches). With this said, I’ve have noticed my mother talking about the brain games puzzles even when she is not working in the book, this tells me that this Brain Game Book is working, stimulating her mind.2). Before purchasing this book I would have liked to see some samples of the inside of the book. Without me giving to much away the games inside the book and with the publisher approval, I have added photos of a few of the games inside this books. I hope by doing this, it will give others a better ideal of what this book consist of.3). Family fun: I showed the Brain Games book to my husband and within minutes he and I starting working one of the harder brain games together. I had no ideal my husband and I would enjoy such a game book together. I very much enjoyed the development of the characters as time went by, in this novel. It is a lovely tale that flows like a stream through the bottomlands...steady and quiet, growing without much fanfare as various branches flow into it. As the novel neared its end, it's waters had become quite powerful, taking the reader with it to a satisfying yet surprising ending.

It was difficult to read this story because of the time jumps. The characters were a bit hard to understand, but perhaps it was because of the modern versus Mennonite worlds clashing in the settings. I enjoyed the methods the midwives used without modern technology, but again that was not the premise for the novel. I still found it difficult to fully understand or sympathize with Beth/Rhoda or Amelia and their motivations. However, a nice book to spend a lazy afternoon.

I fell headfirst into this book and didn't want to climb back out. The past and the present merged seamlessly and God's overwhelming and relentless love saturated the story. Jolina has a God-given talent for writing and I feel blessed to be able to read her books.

As in her first novel, The Outcast, the author is able to draw in the heart of the reader while delving into the story. Sometimes when I look at the stack of books I am blessed with reading, the choice of my next book can be really hard when faced with many wonderful books or unknown authors I want to discover. As is my practice, I wait to see which one the Lord would have me read and then share with you.I loved Jolina’s first novel and when I could, I obtained The Midwife earlier this year. What I knew to expect would be a wonderful tale, but what I didn’t know was how I would be impacted by the book. While I have never been a surrogate mother, I have been blessed by having two sons with my husband of over 26 years. Just being a woman would be enough to read this novel, allowing it to touch your heart and hope for the best outcome for the characters.While I cannot tell you how it ends because I don’t want to ruin it for you, what I can say is that it will truly cause your eyes to mist. It will speak to your heart when you read the author’s true life experience when she was writing this novel. Both the novel and author are a testament to how the Lord can mend broken hearts in ways we cannot see and bring joy from pain. The novel is truly inspiring, enjoyable, and one to share with your friends or family.Don’t be surprised if you find yourself talking about the The Midwife and perhaps also read The Outcast, which I also think is exceptional! The novels are stand alone books that can be read in any order, but don’t miss these wonderful stories! I cannot wait to see what comes next from the pen of Jolina!

How an author draws the reader in to feel sympathy for characters in a book is a mystery to me. It is a skill that I find amazing when I think about it. However, I usually do not think about it, I usually take it for granted. I think the idea of her story was unique, and clever, but the characters never drew me in, and as a result it is not at all likely I would buy another of her books.

Actually, my wife and I met the mother of the author before this book came out; but my wife bought Jolina Petersheim's first books and really liked it. So I pre-ordered this book--which has now come ion--and the reading is yet to be done. Interesting story about the author. She grew up knowing she wanted to be an author. But she was in a loving family where the women ordinarily didn't go to college and weren't usually known as writers. But with a supportive mother, who knew how to yoke her husband to the daughter's vision, the daughter turned out to be a college grad, a wife, mother--I think, and a fine author. Well, that's what the mother told us anyway when we visited her little shop in Greenbrier, TN.

The characters in this story are so lifelike that you could reach out and touch them and feel their breath upon your skin.This is a story about heartbreak and redemption told by an extraordinary storyteller. Author, Jolina Petersheim, draws you deep into the lives, both past and present, of each character.My favorite quote is, "I love you so much; I could just squeeze the pudding out of you!" ÃœI highly recommend this book. I believe fans of Julie Cantrell and Lisa Wingate will especially enjoy Jolina's writing style.This is a novel that is staying on my bookshelf to be read again and again.

Molina Petersheim had produced another blockbuster novel. She had a style of writing for different character perspectives that keep you interested until the very end. although there are subtle clues throughout the book the ending comes as a complete surprise. First you have Beth who becomes surrogate for her professor and his wife. You have Thom and Meredith who are the biological parents and you have a former boyfriend of Beth's and the girls who stay at Hopen Haus.Beth comes to Hopen Haus to delIver the baby she had carried as a surrogate. When she decides to stay after the baby's birth she learns to become a midwife and stays on.The story takes place over an 18 year period. It weaves back and forth from 1997 to 2014 with both Beth/Rhoda and one of the girls (Amelia) providing narrative each from their own perspective.There are some additional characters that are important to the story line but I don't want to be a spoiler. You will have to read it yourself and I'm sure you'll agree it is masterly written.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is book 6 in the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling. It is a thicker book than the previous books, and it is a lot heavier for sure. The quality of the book itself is excellent. Dust-jacket is very nice. Constructed same as the previous books. Story-wise, things just get more and more interesting that you can't put the book down and don't want to stop until you find out what is next after each page.This is my favorite book of the entire series. It is very dark in some places, but the flashbacks into the past in where we learn so much about Voldemort or Tom Riddle are very interesting and engaging. Danger is everywhere. Everything seems to be at risk, and you just don’t know what will happen next. Nothing seems to be safe anymore. There is also a little romance, but tension as well. It’s a pretty big book. A lot of pages to read. But, I was able to read it over a weekend or so with determination.There are so many plot lines in this book, and the pace does not let up from first page to the last page. There are new twists and turns. I cannot reveal without spoiling. This is definitely an excellent book.I recommend this book for sure. It is priced fairly I think on Amazon. If you have Amazon Prime, the 2-day Free shipping is nice.

This is at least my fifth reading of this, easily my favorite book of the HP series. I get more out of each book upon every re-read, and this one especially. One of the great joys of the series, and especially of HBP, is the humor JKR manages to thread throughout the story, even as things are sad, or scary, or serious. The tiny references to Harry's burgeoning affection for Ginny, the way Fred and George manage to slip in one-liners even as chaos is erupting around them, it always feels like a gift from the author. This book, maybe more than any of the others, also really takes the time for character development. This is the book where Hermione becomes one of the great female characters in fiction, and where Harry stops being the victim of constant happy accidents and starts making his own choices. Plus it's just a really great mystery story! And ties in so importantly (obviously) with the overarching mythology.I will always remember receiving this book the day it was published (July 2007, right?), a day I had to go to a wedding and also shop for a big dinner party. I hid the book under my seat at the wedding and kept turning the pages behind my ankles, only looking up at the ceremony every page or so. Then I had the book balanced on my shopping cart, blindly tossing vegetables and cans in as fast as I could. When I got home, I finished the rest of the book by 2am, texting with my sister, saying, "I'm on page xxx." We finished within a few minutes of each other, exchanging comments on what sobbing messes we were. Later that week, I was walking to lunch and saw a girl sitting in the sun outside of the bank (where she presumably worked). She had the book in her lap and her head in her hands, obviously on one of the sad, stressful final chapters. I wanted to just go over and give her a hug.

I got hooked on these books by accident around when the second movie came out. After that, I had to read them all and I was one of those people who would buy the book at the midnight release.The same happened with my mother so I started buying them for her on in large print so she could easily read them without straining her eyes.The story is simple without being too over-the-top fantasy (my opinion) like other series I could never really get into.

The movies are wonderful BUT the Books Are ALWAYS Better! Why? You get the whole story as written by the original author!!! Nothing cut out or story lines Changed Entirely by editors or others who must squeeze and manipulate the ORIGINAL STORIES so as to fill a time slot, or showcase certain (undeserving) actors who wiggle their way into more “air time”...manipulating the original plot lines..It Shows to those of us who know. SO READ THE BOOKS, its like 50% more Harry Potter PLUS “THE REAL, UNDULTERATED, UNTOUCHED STORY. You should buy hard covered books because you WILL want to hand them down to your kids, grandkids, friends, and keep for yourself. These stories deserve re-reading! BUY THE BOOKS, you can get full sets! It is so very worth it and make great gifts for kids or fans of any age. GOOD LUCK, ENJOY!

As I wrote before: I just love all Harry Potter books, they are very engaging and beautifully written. Plenty of details describing characters and the magical world, which combined with Rowling's sense of humor make these books a masterpiece. I'd say easy to read even for a 4th. Grader, but at the same time people from any age will enjoy them. Please let me put them this way: I first watched the movies and I loved them, then I read the books and now I am disappointed about the movies. There is so much detail, important facts, and character development that the movies don't show which makes reading the books a must. Won't be disappointed about the books.

The Sixth Book is when motivations become clear, alliances are broken, and the risks are higher. Two VERY important plot points happen in this book. One is a huge death toward the end of the book, which I won't spoil for new readers. And the other is the background on Tom Riddle and how he came to be Lord Voldemort. You learn about his birth mother and her terrible family, you learn about Tom Riddle, Sr. and his family, and you learn how Voldemort used Dark Magic to extend his life. All very exciting and new stuff happen in this novel.I didn't really feel the length of this book unlike OOTP. Very good read. Obviously if you have gotten this far in the series you would undoubtedly read this novel, so don't delay and finish this book!

Despite the extreme frustration of having to buy this without knowing what was in this set, I am very happy to have made this purchase. I knew it was a gamble when I bought it, but I received exactly what I was hoping for. There are primarily a lot of unique looking npcs in this box. There are a variety of heros, villains, and unique looking monsters that could serve as npcs. I'm sure that the company who makes these would make a lot more sales if they would just show pictures of some of the content, it's hard to want to pay this much as a risk of not knowing what will be inside the box.

It has lots of characters and creatures to choose from so whether your DMing or being a player you'll be able to find something for you. Only thing I don't like is that on a couple of the pieces the weapons go off of the tile so instead of holding a spear it looks like they are just holding a stick.

Just wanted to echo what others said. Its annoying as all hell that you can't see them and there's no listing anywhere, but they are a nice set of pawns. Pretty happy.

Adding to our collection. Much more affordable than the normal minis, plus you don't have to paint them. They are easier to store.

Lots of fun new minis to throw at the players.
