I bought this book out of appreciation for the 2008 edition signed-out from the local library, which was impressive. The author offers insightful, soul searching questions that should be answered that ensure the new business entrepreneur will not be venturing forward without a solid plan and expectation. I need this new edition to keep close at hand while my "business thinking and attitude" is being formed, for which the book definitely provides the guidance and illustrations. Yes, I would definitely recommend this book.

In general, Nolo press writes the best Pro-per books available for the layman. I've been using them for over thirty years, still do, and have a complete library of their publications. They've never let me down as to quality, completeness, and accuracy.

How to Write a Business Plan really got me thinking about many things I didn't realize was important when starting a business. The author uses an easy to follow writing style and gives real life stories to help you understand what he is trying to convey. It is not written just for the business owner who is trying to get funding but for the new or want to be business owner as well. It's not the cure all book for business plans but it's the best help I've gotten so far. In the end you'll be glad you bought it.

This is a great book. I had purchased this book with others, at a time before I re-enrolled in class for business. The old MIT book, business plans that make $$$ should be a supplement when purchasing this book. You want to write your plan yourself and avoid pre-generated forms. This will at least help you until you take a few entrepreneurial classes.

Good if you are writing a business plan for the first time. It is kind of like a Business Plans for Dummies book, simple, to the point, and does not cover any grey area.

It has good info in it but if I wasn't taking it for a class I probably wouldn't have gotten it. There is one with the CD in it which is better.

This book helped me easily write my business plan. If you're new to business and need a business plan, this is a great resource.

held my hand effectively through the whole process

Western and Frontier Film and Television Credits 1903-1995

From Booklist

The American West is one of the most popular topics to receive Hollywood treatment. It has endured through every era of filmmaking, from silent movies, to color and digital sound. It created stars from bit-part players, such as John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, both on the big screen and on our television sets. The popular appeal of westerns is reflected in TV revivals of the genre, such as Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman and The Lazarus Man.The long and varied history of the western and of those whose creative talents helped develop the genre is well documented in the unrivaled Western and Frontier Film and Television Credits, 1903^-1995. Lentz has compiled a resource that is similar to his Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Film and Television Credits (McFarland, 1994).The first volume details the creators of the western genre in two sections: Actors and Actresses and Directors, Producers and Writers. Each section is arranged alphabetically by the person's last name, followed by a complete list of movie and TV credits that is thoroughly cross-referenced to the other sections. For example, it is noted that John Ford had acting roles in three of his 1917 directorial efforts. The second volume is also arranged in two sections: Film Index and Television Index. The latter lists TV shows by episode, including cast credits; while the former lists director, producer, writer, and cast. One notable absence from the film listing is the 1935 MGM production of Barbary Coast (a 1975 TV movie of the same title is noted). The actors in this film (Edward G. Robinson and Walter Brennan) do not have this movie listed under their names either. This work is, however, an excellent reference resource that documents an indelible part of American culture. It is ideal for discovering that Lou Costello did an episode of Wagon Train without Bud Abbott to keep him in line and that DeForest Kelley made more than 50 TV and movie westerns before Star Trek, but only one after. As such, it is recommended for reference collections.

Bill Willingham has created another winner in his famous colorful series. Bigby and Snow White's cubs learn a tough lesson about life and death as they try to move on. Will Haven and its refugee inhabitants survive? What kind of trouble does Bufkin get into this time? There's never a dull moment as these characters come to life as they capture your attention and tug at the heartstrings. Where do the Fables go from here? The author delivers fun-filled entertainment from beginning to end. Delightful and Enjoyable. Highly Recommended!

Fables No 1, Legends in Exile introduces us to another variation on the concept of the Mother Goose characters as real if still somewhat magical and living among us. Or at least living among New Yorkers. Nicely included as add-ins are the back stories, that tell the tale of how it was that several centuries ago the people and creatures of the various fairy tales found themselves having to live, more or less concealed among us. The plot driver is a murder mystery and to keep us from guessing the solution we are entertained by the various tweaks and changes in the ancient characters to enable them to succeed while hidden in our world.Altogether a fun read with a decent mystery and a worthy use of time. The art work is classic comic book realism but at a high level. Likely I will be buying more, but I cannot see this as a series that will sustain my interest for long. The stable of Bill Williams and Lan Medina has done better with this series than the somewhat parallel world in Fairest. Specifically the writing in Fables is better while the artwork there was more lavish. My opinion is based on a sample of one, but I will get back to you when I read, as I am likely to, Volumes 2 in each set.The target audience is teens, mostly male. A lead character is Snow White as the real brains and hardest worker in this city of the fabled. So there is something to appeal to the ladies. There is a whiff of sex and more than a little violence. In this Fables keep with the concept once defined by Lenny Bruce, that a pillow used as a weapon to murder pretty ladies is family entertainment, but used to make her more comfortable during sex is gross. That said the mayhem and the ‘icky’ stuff are kept to a minimum and mostly off panel.Of the various tests on our willingness to suspend disbelief there is one that I do not get. The humans of the Fables come into ‘our’ world as humans, maintaining most of their fairy story characteristics and allowing for the adaptation necessary to survive in ours. The creatures of the fabulist world arrive as creatures and are forced to live up state on a farm where they will not be too out of place. That said we have as the Chief Detective, the Man with a nose for trouble. BigB, aka the Big Bad Wolf. Who walks among us as a man. Part of the extra back story is a re telling of The Big Bad Wolf that does not have him as a shape shifter. He is one in this book and why or how is not made clear.

I’ve had this on my TBR list for-freaking-ever so it was a no brainer to read this as part of my ‘Horror Aficionados Mount TBR Challenge’ for 2018. I really liked the idea of taking the characters for fables and fairy tales and inserting them into the real world, and I really did like some of the characters and their stories. The way Beauty and Beast have to deal with their problem is hilarious. And you never really think about the fact that a fairy tale couple is going to be together forever since they don’t die. Talk about marital problems. I also really enjoyed seeing Bluebeard’s messed up story brought to the forefront.Unfortunately, I just couldn’t totally get into the story and the predicament of these Fables being caught in our world. There really isn’t a lot mentioned about the Adversary who conquered their fable lands and forced them to move, and ultimately, I don’t care enough to find out.

Volume one of the Fables' graphic comic series is fun. It is a detective mystery, using characters from fairy tales who have been forced to immigrate to New York City through a witch's magic portal to our universe. Their own lands were invaded by a being they call ' The Adversary'.The author has written a straightforward mystery, but there is irony in the roles the fairytale characters play. The Big Bad Wolf is the private detective hired to solve the murder of Rose Red, party girl and sister to Snow White, assistant to the mayor. Suspects for the murder are Bluebeard and Jack the Giant Killer, Rose Red's boyfriends.Meanwhile, harassing Snow White for money, Prince Charming is hanging about, flitting from bed to bed while pleading for a loan to tide him over until the time the fairy tale folks decide to fight The Adversary and get their lands back. Snow White regrets that she ever loved the loser, but she arranges for a lottery to be held, the winner of which gets the Prince's title and lands if and when they are able to return to Fableland.Very cute, and I did not guess who did it!

When I got this book, I was already a fan of the Klingon language (enough to say {tlhIngan Hol vIjatlhlaH, 'ach vIjatlhlaHchu'be'.}), so I was certainly expecting that I'd enjoy it, as I did "The Klingon Dictionary" (TKD).However, what I was not expecting was that I'd enjoy much, MUCH more than TKD.TKD is a very fun book, and a very good starting point for anybody who's interested in the Klingon language. However, it is basically a book of grammar - a reference book - and thus it is at times a bit dry. The sort of book that you pick up, learn something from, smile and put down."Klingon for the Galactic Traveler" (KGT) is something quite different; it's a well-written, well-thought-out, imaginative crash course into Klingon culture, and one heck of a page-turner!Prior to reading this book, I was of the belief that while Marc Okrand was a great linguist, he wasn't really all that invested in Klingon culture. Boy, was I wrong; not only does the book show his familiarity with all that Klingons had done on-screen up until that time, but it's also the sort of book that I'd like all future Trek writers (including fanfic:ers) to read (along with Ford's "The Final Reflection") before they incorporate Klingons into their stories, to provide a deeper cultural background to their characters. This and "The Klingon Way" are probably the two of Okrand's books that I'd recommend even to ordinary Trekkies who are interested in Klingons but aren't really out to learn the language. There are certainly some parts that cater quite specifically to us Klingon-speakers, but even if I weren't a jatlhwI', I expect I'd still give this book 4/5 stars. Also, if you do read it, you'll probably pick up some {tlhIngan Hol} without really trying, sense it's weaved into the text.

If you are interested in learning the Klingon language, there are two reference that you must have at minimum. The first is the Klingon dictionary The Klingon Dictionary (Star Trek). You will not find a comparable reference on line. The second is this book. This book links the Klingon language to Klingon culture. Since language and culture are intimately intertwined, you cannot fully understand one without the other. I also think in general, you will enjoy Marc's writing style. From it you will get the impression that Klingons are real (at least for us, their language is!). Klingon is currently the second most popular conlang (comstructed language; the first most popular is Esperanto), and there are many creative works (including an opera) in Klingon. So, here's an excuse to start learning Klingon! QaQ jaj! (good day!)

Really amazing contribution to the Klingon corpus. I wonder if Okrand just had fun with his subsequent Klingon books. This one is more of a sociolinguistic romp, whereas "The Klingon Way" lists Klingon proverbs of note, a real monument to invented languages in fiction and a delight of human thought.

I liked that the book is treated as any language book is treated with phases to use and also talking about how there are different dialects in different parts of the Klingon world.

Very informative. Not a light read.

I would recommend it for linguistics hobbyist.

A somewhat of a joke gift to my wife, but we both actually really enjoy it and are having fun with the book... We're looking forward to pulling out one of our Star Trek DVDs and seeing if we can follow the Klingon. Good little book. Kapla!

Detailed, effective for Klingon fans.
