Great book for novices. My husband bought a different one initially and it was worthless. This is our first time raising chickens and this book was highly recommended by a seasoned chicken farmer. It is concise and has lots of information. Easy to follow.

I wish I had this BEFORE building a chicken coop. The store sold me a coop/cage that is WAY too small for 6 chickens. And i didn't realize chickens are escape artists! The book goes through legal issues/city or town restrictions, about start up costs, estimated time it will need, and space. Chicken anatomy, behavior, how they get along with other animals. Breed information for layers, pets/show, etc. Buying chickens, housing, design of coop, feeding, water info, cleaning, pest and predator control. Simple important information like how to catch your chickens! It goes into breeding and incubating, managing layers and butchering meat birds. It briefly reviews common health issues.so much more

Seems like a pretty good book for beginning chicken keepers. A little curious that the authors advise using medicated feed. I've watched 100's of youtubes at this point and everyone specifically says, "if your chick(en)s aren't sick, why would you give them medicine", which makes a lot more sense to me.Anyway, I'm sure I picked up enough tips, tricks, and info to make this worth the purchase. I would recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a flock, but would also recommend search youtube and check out at least a couple other books (like "Fresh Eggs Now").

Wow! Great info!!! Big book..lots of information. This is the first time that we have raised chickens so we have a lot of questions and this book has a lot of answers!!! I researched before buying the correct chicken book and I was impressed mostly with this and I'm glad that I decided to get this one. I know we will use this as a go-to for any questions that arise, and just to read through to educate ourselves on our new journey with raising sweet chickens!!! :)

I'm sure I could have searched the internet for much of this information, but who has the time to sit for hours researching every aspect of raising chickens? This is a handy book to whip out when you have a question or concern. Highly recommend.

Ive read it about 5 times already. I have read everything online which can be very controversial . I needed a place where I could read about everything and have it pretty much the right way to do things. Its really easy to understand and I have highlighted a bunch of my book already. I highly recommend this book to new chicken keepers, especially the chapter on hatching chicks.

My wife is totally new to raising chickens, and I have some experience from my youth, but not a lot. This covers everything you need to know without getting too technical like some of the other books do.

This book is good for people who know nothing about taking care of chickens and those who are experienced and may need a quick info check. It is also easy to find the topics you are interested in now with reading the ones that can wait.

I read this book in 3 days and found it to be the most interetsing and fun biographies I've read. I'm A big fan Stephen king and this book told me the story behind Kings life. George Beahm did a Great job of telling the story. If your a Stephen King fan get this book you won't regret it.

This is the true story of Joyce Meyer's emotional deliverance from severe childhood sexual abuse. The details of the abuse are limited, but there is enough here to know that it was a regular occurrence, over many years, and included rape.At eighteen, Joyce married the first guy that came along to get out of the house, and he was extremely emotionally abusive. That marriage ended in divorce. Shortly thereafter she met Dave Meyer, a Spirit-filled Christian. They married after only a few dates, and Dave quickly realized that Joyce had a problem deep in her soul.They had children, and went to church every week, but things were still not good at home. Joyce was an angry, bitter and controlling person. Several years later, Joyce became Spirit-filled and felt the call to a deeper walk with God. She was led to in-depth Bible-study, and slowly began to confront her issues in a Biblical manner.I first read this book about 15 years ago. Although I had never experienced this type of abuse, I had some related problems. At the time, I thought the book was "nice", and perhaps somewhat helpful. I read it once and gave it away. I didn't think my problems were "that bad". I had my act together on the surface. I realize now I wasn't ready to confront the pain.Recently, I was led back to this book after an experience I know was a "wake-up call." I ordered the paperback from Amazon and dug in as soon as it arrived. I am discovering that you receive in abundance from God when you truly "dig in" like a starved person, not when you nibble like someone on a diet.I am almost finished, and looking forward to starting at the beginning, studying the Scriptures in-depth and putting them to practice in my life.For those in need of emotional healing, which is almost everyone, realize that this might book not be the only tool you will need. God may lead you to other resources. Keep in mind, also, the healing described here took place over years. Years.However if you are done with pity-parties and temper tantrums, if your addictions are just not working anymore, start here.

I am not a victim of abuse like Joyce Meyer, but I am so thankful for this book, because it was healing for me in ways I could have never imagined. If you are burdened by anything that you don't seem to be able to get over, this book can help you, too.

Love this book! I ordered this after hearing the podcast of Joyce's daily broadcasting speaking on the subject. This book along with a CD & DVD set was part of her monthly teaching offer. However, by the time I heard the message the offer was long over so I decided to get the Kindle version because it was cheaper than going to Joyce's site after the offer had expired.I never thought that I needed emotional healing for my past, I had always thought of healing in the physical sense. However, after hearing the broadcast and reading the book I realized how much damage had been done and how I have been affected by the actions of people in my life. Through this book and Joyce's testimony, God has started the healing process of my heart and emotions, so much so I went back to Joyce's site to order the package I mentioned earlier! This book made me weep, reflect, forgive and allow God to finally heal me of all the abuse, rejection, and pain of my past. Joyce not only explains how to get over it and why it's important in order to move on, but she also gives scripture after scripture on the matter. She shows how pain from your past can keep you in bondage and how Satan uses it to control you and your relationships and interactions with people. I recommend this book to anyone who has been hurt, rejected, and/or abused, and find themselves always reliving the pain, walking in unforgiveness, doing to others what has been done to them, or totally shutting people out. If you let it, this book along with the Holy Spirit will lead you to the freedom you seek.

Joyce Meyer had a great talent in helping people begin the road to healing after traumatic situations in life. She builds on scripture to help the average person understand why bad things happen to good people, and how God can use these trials to build us up and purify us. This book helped me personally to overcome the abuse of my childhood and to strengthen me and heal my soul so I can fully love and appreciate my husband.

I find this book so relatable. It was in reading it that I redevoted my life to Christ and chose to let God heal my past wounds. In just a weeks time it took me, the peace and joy God has given me is unmeasureable. I'm so glad Joyce chose to write this and reach so many people. Thank you.

Love this book by Joyce. I ordered this for a young lady in prison who has become my pen pal. She was sexually abused by her grandfather for years. I felt the Lord wanted her to have this to know He would bring healing to her life as He has with Joyce Meyers and many others. She wrote me saying she couldn't put this book down.

I was not abused like Joyce. However I recommend this book to anyone who grew up with family distinction, addiction, or controlling parents. The principals can be applied to all those situations.

I'm starting to get the hang of the books in this series: there is no formula. I like that. And that said, I like this entry, but not as much as I wish I did.I confess that of their two albums proper, I prefer Closer (Reis) (Exp), which is less studio-gimmicky and, well, more depressing in its tone and atmosphere (and Atmosphere), but Unknown Pleasures is a pretty impressive album in its own right. Ott does a nice job of giving us a sense of how special this album and this band were, with a special focus on the way that they transformed themselves, in what was really a pretty short period of time, from what (based upon the recordings extant) was a pretty dire punk band, frankly, into a one of the most influential and singular bands of the post-punk era. And rightly so. Joy Division were a monolith, really. I admit, too, that I never much cared for New Order.Ott also does a pretty nice job of giving a thumbnail view of JD in the studio and he is meticulous in presenting their recorded output, including session dates, various releases, who / what / when / and where. He also does a nice job of explaining what Martin Hannett brought to the party in the studio (and how he adjusted after Unknown Pleasures on the singles, and Closer, that followed).Where he is weaker, I think, is in his presentation of the band as Ian Curtis and, um, some other guys. No one else in the book emerges as more than a two-dimensional presence. Heck, other than Peter Hook, who gets a few quotes off, no one else gets even two dimensions. While certainly Curtis' vocals, lyrics and stage presence were obviously major determining factors of Joy Division, and the major factor in the IMAGE of Joy Division, the other guys would seem to have had a little something to do with the band and its music.And his treatment of Curtis is somewhat problematic. His portrait of his inner turmoil, his pompousness, his struggles to both deal with and accept his epilepsy (not to mention his marriage) are noble, he too often, and easily, falls into the "tortured genius" mode while insisting that Curtis was NOT a tortured genius. Thought he was, you know, tortured, um, and a genius. This is not meant to in any way diminish Curtis' life, inner struggles, or death, it ultimately feels pat to me - there's no real answer, but here is the answer.All in all, the book is a mixed bag, but worthy of the series and a useful read. Ultimately, it sends me back to a wonderful record I hadn't listened to in a while, makes me reflect on it and appreciate it all over again. That's useful.

This is what I hoped all 33 1/3 books read like. It actually takes you through the band's recording processes leading up to and including the album. Some entries in the series are much more about the author than the subject matter. Chris Ott does a fantastic job of providing interesting information for obsessive types.

This book was sent as a gift and the recipient loved it! It is a great tribute to a wonderful album by an historic, influential band.

Clearly written mini-history presented with sensitivity and attention to detail. A great introduction to the whole Joy Division experience. The book itself is sturdy and well put together. A fine addition to your collection.
