The cutest little gardening book for toddlers! Ordered this for my friend’s daughter’s first birthday and she just adores it!
This is a really cute book made of soy ink and sustainable paper. My only complaint is that the flaps are so thin. This is a board book so its meant for little babies and the flaps could easily be ripped off! Also the ink on the underside of the flaps looks a little dull. The story is cute, especially the part about the slugs so we read it to our daughter a lot, but we can't just let her play with it or she'd rip it.
We have a huge veggie and flower garden and I bought this book because I thought my 2 yo would love it. And she does! We read it every night to the point that she has the book memorized. Great book with flaps that little kids love, simple rhymes, and cute illustrations!
Love this book and that I can introduce my little one to gardening early. However, I have to be careful letting her lift the flaps while she looks through it by herself. She has ripped one for clean off the page! Nothing a little hot glue can't fix. But I'm sure there is a way to make this book more durable. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase!
My 20 month old son loves this book and I love teaching him about gardening. He likes picking up the flaps and pointing to the pictures which are uncluttered and clear enough for him to pick out what the words are referring to.
My son loves this book! The flip up parts give it a variety and keep him interactive during story time. Very cute, simple, and clean design.

The Little Gardener is a remarkably true-to-life depiction of what it's like to garden, including the necessary evil of eliminating slugs. The flaps are not only sturdy, but easy for little hands and minds to work. The text rhymes although the rhythm isn't perfect. My toddler loves the patterns on all of the flowers and is especially excited by the basket-full of carrots in the second half of the book, but then carrots are our favorite food! I have mixed feelings about the inclusion of text that discusses getting rid of slugs--seems a little advanced for a toddler--but "slug" is a fun word for toddler ears, so we just use that page as an opportunity to play around with the "S" sound.
