I was able to picture them completely in my mind. Ellie the Elephant was the most adorable, silliest creature in a book but illustrated the scenes & gave us all remembrances of those times in our lives. Cassie pulled Flynn out of the gloom & doom & made him realize he was worth something. She finished what Ruby’s arrival started in his life. She made him truly live again. Flynn made Cassie realize that she didn’t give herself enough credit for her talent & career plan. The “chance” encounter between the three of them has given us a terrific start to another great Sullivan series!

Cassie Sullivan’s book starts the third set of Sullivan stories. They live in Maine with their parents Ethan and Beth.Flynn Stewart is a screenwriting friend of Smith’s who needs a place to stay after he discovers his nanny has sold the story of how he came to get his niece Ruby. Smith told Flynn about the cabin his cousin Cassie has in Maine.I liked the book very much. Cassie is a very positive person and sees the good in everything. She gets Flynn to see that he’s not the product of what happened when he was a child. What also made it good was Flynn’s slow transformation to someone who changed from trying to hide himself to someone who was willing to share his background with the Sullivan family.I would definitely recommend this to family and friends. I give it 5 stars.

This is the first story of the Maine Sullivan’s and I can already tell that we are going to fall in love with this whole family. This is Cassie Sullivan’s story and how she meets and falls in love with Flynn Stewart. Flynn is a screenwriter from LA and is friends with Cassie’s cousin Smith Sullivan. When Flynn finds himself needing a place to hide out for a while with his new baby niece Ruby, Smith contacts Cassie to see if they can use her cabin. Of course being the friendly and open person that Cassie is, she says yes. When she meets Flynn and Ruby she instantly falls for the adorable little girl, but of course Flynn is wary and not to nice to Cassie to begin with. The way that the story unfolds and how these two learn to open up and support each other is so beautiful to read about. I love how everyone falls in love with Ruby and welcomes both of them into their family. Watching Cassie teach Flynn how to love and open himself up and let go of the past is heartwrenching. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Maine Sullivans.

Flynn Stewart is a successful screenwriter who has been running for the past 20 years and he is still running. This time however he is running to Maine to hide from The press and his past as he tries to raise his very young niece he has only had custody of for about a month. He is sent to Maine by his very good friends Smith and Valentina Sullivan so that he can escape and regroup and more importantly focus on being a father to his niece Ruby. Ruby will steal your heart from the first scene she is in!Cassie Sullivan creates sweet confections and she allows Flynn to stay at her cabin as a favor to Smith. She opens the door and falls hard for Ruby and her dad. Cassie has a heart as wide as the ocean and she makes sure Flynn and that baby have what they need before he roughly dismisses her. Cassie is all sunshine and smiles and Flynn is convinced he doesn't deserve her and her brother Rory and father Ethan agree.The Sullivan clan is large, gregarious, loving, loyal, successful and would do anything to protect each other. I want to be a part of this family! Ms. Andre's characters are well written and it's very hard not to fall in love with them. The Maine Sullivan's are no different. This was a sweet story with some darkness that needs to be overcome. I wish I found a love like Ms. Andre writes about. If I can't have a love of my own at least I can live vicariously through the Sullivans and their partners!

Another Sullivan spinoff family, the Sullivans of Maine, with a family similar to the California Sullivan’s. This was a sweet story....literally. Cassie is a candy maker also known as an artist. I must say i did not know this was a profession, but she is part of the Maine Sullivan’s, most of whom still live very close to the parents. Flynn Stewart is an Oscar winning screen writer who finds he is in charge of 6 month old baby girl, and needs to get out of Hollywood for her sake. By way of the California Sullivan’s, he finds out that Cassie will rent him a cabin in the woods of Maine to help him hide from the paparazzi. Flynn has a lot of issues, baby Ruby is adorable, and Cassie wants to love them both. With the help of her family, Flynn sees a different way of life from the one he was running from. Although I love Sullivan Family stories, and Bella Andre is a wonderful storyteller, this book lacked something for me. I almost felt as if everything went too smoothly and easily for this HEA. I am not sure if I wanted more angst of more depth, but it lacked that something for me that made this story great. Another good story, just not my favorite.

The most enjoyable aspects of the book recount the rise of Jurich and the University of Louisville's athletic program from a laughingstock to a multi-million dollar enterprise, where Pitino is a character in the success. The other portion of the book provides solid research into the latest NCAA scandal and dirty games of college basketball recruiting, where Christian Dawkins takes on a persona of a self-important wannabe insider/agent.Overall, the book is a quick and enjoyable read, but the story is shallow for a topic of this magnitude and felt rushed to the printers, as there could have been several additional chapters on the corruption within the recruiting cycle.

Whoever decided to title this book should have realized that Pitino and Christ have little in common after reading the salacious testimony given during his first trial. Nevertheless, Sokolove is pretty evenhanded in his treatment of Pitino who evidently adopted the "I want to know nothing" attitude regarding the money funneled to elite recruits' families from shoe companies through middle men. This has been an open secret to anyone who follows college sports for years. Thanks to the author for helping us understand the present confusing trial. And never fear, fans, we will still be able to wager our 10 billion on the NCAA tourney this year. Neither the NCAA, the universities, the coaches, agents or shoe companies want to break their golden eggs.

As a former professional in a D1 school and parent of a current D1 hoops assistant, I have read this book 3 times as the federal case has progressed. And, I have 'assigned' it to my son and his young cohort of colleagues - in the hopes they remain committed to the STUDENT-athlete but with eyes wide open.

Bought this book for my husband who is from Louisville and used to follow U of L basketball before all the scandals became public knowledge. It arrived at a time when he was swamped with work, but he couldn't resist reading a little of it whenever he had time. He enjoyed it and said he would read it again.

It lays buried deep in the Vatican archives, this encyclical, though one paragraph was found and made it to this book.

This is a fascinating history of the papacy of Pope Pius XI and his opposition to Fascism and Nazism. He charged Father John LaFarge to draft the encyclical that might have seriously curtailed the persecution of the Jews during WWII. Due the machinations of the Vatican hierarchy it was never published as he died before he could press the issue of publication. Until I read this book as a Catholic I knew very little about Pius XI as he was overshadowed by Pius XII, John XXIII and John Paul II. Turns out he may have been more courageous than all of his successors combined.

I have read many books on history in my life, but had never read anything about Pope Pius XI. I came away from reading this book with a sense of profound admiration for him as well as great sadness that the efforts to decisively condemn the regimes of both Hitler and Mussolini that he was making at the end of his life were being effectively sabotaged.

Linsey started us off with some known characters (from dragon’s gift: the protector) but a few years fast forward.Bree is a very likeable character, life has thrown her a lot of lemons, but together with her sister Ana she’s making lemonade (having a succesful business).Unfortunately to keep that business and to stay protected, they had to put their trust in the wrong guy, who betrayed them.Enter a race against the clock to save her own life and that of her sister.Luckily they get help in the form of an old friend (Cass) and the Undercover Protectorate if they dare to reach out and trust.I found the character- and worldbuilding, the use if mythological figures, the flow of the story amazing and intricate, the story pulled me in and didn’t let me go until I was finished again.I find that this author has a way with words, at times I hold my breath and at others I snort with laughter.I can only urge you to read it, because I believe that you will love it as much as I did.

I read all of The Huntress, Seeker, and Protector series. I was looking forward to this series when Bree and her sister Ana were introduced in that World. But in this first book of the new series, I just wasn't feeling the personalities of the sisters and the love interest, Cade.Yes, it's YA--just like the previous series. And the two sisters are apparently powerful (although as yet they don't now how powerful). And the love interest shown this far is a hunk, and also powerful. But the sisterly relationship wasn't that believable, and I didn't feel the potential romance.But I do like the historical locales, the magic, the many supernatural species (especially the 3 ghost pugs), and the action. I wasn't impressed enough to continue to the next book at its current pricing, but I'll put Book 2 on my Wish list and consider purchasing it if it goes down in price.

This is a quick and fast-paced read, an adventure story filled with magic set in Scotland and Italy, the main character's reliable and collected (always a narrator I appreciate.) There's action throughout the book and lots of fighting sequences.Not really any romance which was smart, the book is way too short to introduce a romance since the largest chunk of the story is only played out over a few days. Though, Bree and the Celtic war god spend most of the book together so there's that.I liked the writing style and characters. Not sure if I'll continue the series as I don't necessary feel attached to the story, but I did enjoy it as a quick read.

I confess I haven't read a lot of urban fantasy, but took the plunge. I wasn't disappointed. It starts off in the thick of things, with the outlaw sisters battling sand monsters in the desert. From there the action keeps on building. I liked the characters, and was definitely curious to learn more of their origins (they're Unknowns, but what exactly? Even they don't know.) There's a bit of a love interest there, too, but it's not eating up all the oxygen in the story, so that's appreciated. The author also has a nice way with words in describing all the settings of the magical cities, the desert, the Scottish Highlands and Venice. It's kind of an Indiana Jones meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with the history and the badass female protagonist. Also appreciated the author's little additional note at the end, explaining in some greater depth some of the entities and locations encountered. (There was a real Vampire of Venice, etc...) A fun read and I'll definitely check out more of Linsey Hall's other works, including this series.

Love, love, love this first installment of Bree's story! I found Bree and her sister Ana very interesting characters in Nix, Cass and Del's series, and was thrilled when LH gave them their own series! I've been eagerly anticipating the release of this first book and it didn't disappoint!Cade is beyond hot, which I wasn't sure was even possible after the incredibly sexy Aiden, Roarke, and Ares from the original three Dragon's Gift series. But LH definitely pulled it off! Bree and Cade are as unique and interesting as believable individuals as Cass/Aiden, Del/Roarke andThe characters truly feel alive, the plot is intriguing and the writing flows smoothly and effortlessly. I can find myself getting lost in the book's world and story! I have read literally tens of thousands of books, so I can be difficult to please, but I found this book utterly absorbing and delightful! Really looking forward to the next installment of Bree's story!

Hall's characters in this book use language really well, and it's fun to read their dialogue. She's really quite a good writer. But this book felt so rushed, and while parts of it were fun, it just felt underdeveloped. There was not a lot of backstory, or details, heroes just rushed in without much explanation, there was not a lot of internal dialogue, and the sister relationship was not developed much at all. It was fun and quick to read, but it just felt so 'lite.'

This was so much more than I expected. The beginning of the book had be a little confused with the madmax kind of opening but it is amazing. Bree is seriously sassy and strong, the type of character that kicks butts and asks questions later. I love seeing how devoted she is to her sisters, despite all the stuff she has gone through. Then there is Cade. Whew is he hot in a scary but super strong kind of way. I wasn't bored at all, and I really loved the world created in this book, especially since it interconnects with previous series but also stands alone on its own.

What a good book. I thought that the Dragon series was good but this may be even better. I certainly hope that this series goes as long as the last one. This book has a really good female protagonist that has some issues. She and her sister go on a quest to beat an evil magician. In the quest she meets up with a good looking warrior who helps them out. There is plenty of interplay between the two characters. It was one of those books that you didn’t want to put down and I was sorry it ended. Looking forward to the next one.
